Ginger

Ginger belongs to zingiberaceae family which is a family of flowering plants. It is one of the world’s most useful plant. Ginger is used for both spice and medicinal purpose. It is cultivated in tropical and semi-tropical areas. Ginger contains many bio-active components.

BENEFITS :

SKIN CARE :

Ginger has anti-aging properties. It helps to fight with free radicals which causes aging that includes fine lines, loose skin,wrinkles. Consuming ginger in your daily diet can give your skin firmness. It also helps to soothe burns and reduce scars. You can simply apply fresh ginger juice or raw ginger slice to the affected area.

HELPS TO TREAT COLD, COUGH AND FLU :

Ginger can be used for treating cold, cough and flue as it has anti-bacterial properties. It can kill bacteria in your throat which helps to provide relief from sore throat. Shagaol, a compound found in ginger helps to fight with flu and cold. You can consume raw ginger or have a ginger tea.

DIY GINGER COUGH SYRUP :

METHOD :

  1. Take fresh ginger and wash it properly
  2. grate the ginger
  3. squeez the grated ginger and take out its juice
  4. add 1 tbsp of honey in ginger juice
  5. consume this syrup thrice a day until cough is gone.

HELPS IN IMPROVING BLOOD FLOW :

Consumption of ginger can improve blood circulation. It helps to lower your blood pressure and when pressure on your veins is lowered it makes the blood to flow easier.

HELPFUL IN ARTHRITIS :

Ginger is an anti-inflammatory. It can help in reducing inflammation and pain in arthritis. Ginger can be consumed raw or by taking capsules, it can also be directly applied to inflammated area in form of ginger oil or raw slice of ginger. If you are not allergic to ginger you can use 3-4 grams of ginger daily.

HELPS TO PREVENT NAUSEA :

Nausea can be caused due to motion sickness, food poisoning, pregnancy or chemotherapy. Ginger can be used to treat or prevent nausea because gingerol, an active compound found in ginger can directly affect central nervous system which helpful in nausea.

Ginger is an anti-cancer and is considered more powerful than chemotherapy for cancer. Raw ginger or ginger tea can be consumed. Active compound in ginger which is gingerol has ability to fight with cancer, it contains antioxidants which fights with the growth of cancer cells.

Ginger is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals which helps to boost your immune system. Ginger has warming properties which provides you relief from inside when you are suffering from cold. Active compound in ginger helps you to fight with viruses.

Ginger helps to improve your metabolism rate which means it helps you to burn calories faster. It also contains dietary fiber which helps to supress hunger, making you feel fuller for long time. You can add raw ginger slices to your detox drink for weight management.

METHOD :

  1. Take juice of fresh ginger
  2. add 1 tbsp of coconut oil
  3. few drops of lemon juice
  4. mix all the ingredients
  5. apply the mixture on your hair scalp and massage for 8-10 minutes
  6. wash your hair with your regular shampoo.

SIDE EFFECTS OF EXCESS INTAKE OF GINGER :

  1. Excess intake of ginger can upset your stomach
  2. it can cause diarrhea
  3. may cause heartburn
  4. it may cause burning sensation or irritation when applied on skin to some people.
